Parent Information Night

February 24, 2010

Old Rochester Regional High School will hold its annual Parent Information Night on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. in the high school/junior high school cafeteria.  The format for the evening will be a brief introduction and overview by the principal, guidance counselors, and department coordinators, followed by an opportunity for parents to interact and ask questions of department coordinators, advisors and coaches.  This informational evening is an excellent opportunity for parents to ask specific questions regarding their son or daughter's 2010-2011 course selections before the student's course requests are entered.

Course selection process:

·   February 9:  2010-2011 Program of Studies available online.

·   February 23-26:  Guidance counselors visit classrooms to explain selection process to students.

·   March 1-4: Students meet with teachers to "sign off" on course recommendations.

·   March 4-5: Students enter requests into computer during directed studies.

ORR Student Honored by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards

ORR Junior, Jillian Zucco, was recently honored by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, a nationwide program honoring young people for outstanding acts of volunteerism.  The awards program, now in its 15th year, is conducted by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).  Jillian raised $25,00 for a young child suffering from a brain tumor by spearheading a dinner-dance benefit featuring entertainment by her community service vocal troupe.  She also organized a team that raised $1,000 for the American Cancer Society by participating in a Relay for Life event in the child's honor.
