What is a greendot?

It is our pet name for quizzes using Accelerated Reader, a product of Rennaisance Learning. This program is used by the Junior High to quiz student's personal and independent reading choices. Students, on a workstation located in each of the English classrooms, can access the program and take a quiz, which checks the content knowledge of their chosen book. The students are introduced to the program by their English teachers and by Mrs. Wheeler, who explain how to log in the system, various test taking strategies, and the requirements for their success. Lists of the book choices are arranged by author and title, available for download in Adobe Acrobat Reader format (pdf files). There is also a link to the Adobe Acrobat site if your computer doesn't have the free reader installed.

Parents:

We offer a great variety of greendot titles so that every student can read books that match his/her interests, reading ability, and level of emotional and intellectual development. As a result, not every title will be a good fit for every student. We encourage parents to help their children choose titles which are best suited to them as individuals.

Students:

Please come in to the the Junior High Library and see what new greendot books are available for borrowing!
